  • Department of Public Facilities - Recycling
"Go Team Recycle!" is an environmental pilot program launched in Charles County this spring that encourages participants at Laurel Springs Park and the Capital Clubhouse to recycle their beverage containers. Sponsored by the Charles County Department of Public Facilities, the Maryland Beverage Association, and the Maryland Department of the Environment, the goal of "Go Team Recycle!" is to help educate our youth (and their parents) about the three R's - Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. We obviously want our children to play sports and be healthy; we also want to teach them the importance of conserving natural resources in order to have a healthier environment

  • Recycling - Go Green » Earth 911
Recycling is the third R of the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Recycling means taking a product or material at the end of its useful life and turning it into a usable raw material to make another product. This section of our site provides information about how to recycle, why to recycle and what you can recycle. And of course the Earth 911 green recycling locator box above can help you find where you can recycle. Just type in what you want to recycle on the left side and where on the right side by entering your zip code or city and state.

  • Recycling in Maryland Home Page
Waste Diversion in Maryland The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) promotes and encourages waste diversion across the state of Maryland. Waste diversion combines both recycling and source reduction activities. The Maryland Recycling Act (MRA) requires all Counties and Baltimore City to recycle 15% or 20% of the waste generated depending on population. Additionally, in 2000, Maryland established a voluntary Statewide waste diversion goal of 40% by 2005. The waste diversion goal is comprised of the recycling rate + source reduction credits (maximum 5%) that Maryland Counties and Baltimore City earn through activities designed to reduce the amount of waste going to the waste stream. MDE works towards Maryland's waste diversion goals by partnering with Maryland's jurisdictions and the public and private sectors to develop markets for recyclable materials and by working with other State agencies to increase the volume of materials diverted from landfills.
